Gucci's Customisable Dionysus Bag

Gucci's new Creative Director Alessandro Michele has done wonders for the brand. With his innovative approach to design, he has single-handedly turned Gucci around. I can't say much about the Ready-to-Wear, but I really love what he has done with the accessories. His introduction of the Blooms and Tian, especially those against the GG web monogram,  have even made a monogram averse person (yes I'm speaking for myself here!), lust over not just the bags, but even the shoes, with these motifs! Okay, so I really don't understand the appeal of the furry loafers and mules, and probably never will, but I really like the Dionysus bag, which I suspect, has something to do with that  brushed matte antique-finished chain strap. It's also Michele's first It Bag for the House, which has become insanely popular, so much so that Gucci has launched a new DIY service where you can customise your very own Dionysus bag, along with the Ace Sneakers and Princetown shoes as well as men's and women's RTW pieces.

This DIY service, inspired by Punk culture, allows you to slap on a wide range of embroideries, trims, hardware and monogrammed initials which may be embellished with the Swarovski crystals of your choice, on the large or medium-sized Dionysus bags. Just look at the flatlay photos below, and check out all the patches (surrounding the bags) that you can play around with! One is certainly spoilt for choice, and the likelihood of someone else with the exact same design you customised, would be quite impossible.

This certainly gives the phrase "You are What You Wear" a whole new meaning, doesn't it? Because in this case, fashion is most definitely a form of self-expression. Literally. ;D

The DIY service is already available in Gucci's Milan Flagship store on via Montenapoleone, and will be landing in select Gucci stores worldwide, but as of now, there is no news about whether this would be available in Malaysia as of yet. I'll keep you posted!
