The British Fashion Council has announced Alessandro Michele for Gucci as the recipient of the International Designer of the Year Award by the British Fashion Council at the 2015 British Fashion Awards. From his furry slippers to the Dionysus bag which he made an instant hit, and my favourite Blooms print, in the mere 11 months as Creative Director for Gucci, Michele has created a series of fashion hits that astounded Planet Fashion.
The British Fashion Council certainly agrees. Net-a-Porter Founder and British Fashion Council Chairperson Natalie Massenet MBE comments that
Alessandro Michele is a phenomenon at Gucci. His exciting eclectic aesthetic has made an overnight impact on global fashion trends. It is not just that he has made the brand covetable and the product so desirable. He has also reinvigorated the retail experience bringing back playfulness and magic to the flagship store. This is a man who has his customer in his heart and celebrates them
Congrats to Michele and Gucci for a well-deserved win!
The British Fashion Awards will take place at the London Coliseum on Monday 23rd November.
