According to WWD, Marc by Marc Jacobs will soon cease to exist. Instead, the absorption into the main Marc Jacobs label will result in a revamped Marc Jacobs label that will offer a wider range of price points to ensure that it caters to (almost) everyone. What's going to happen to the fairly new designers for the MbMJ brand, Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley? The Marc Jacobs corporate office hasn't commented on the fate of their existing MbMJ boutiques either.
I really am not sure whether this is a smart move at all, considering that MbMJ caters to a younger, more street-esque market. Also, since it seems as if the decision is to merge the MbMJ into the main MJ collection, wouldn't the new streamlined version of the brand be too confusing because it has to appeal to a wider market in terms of age, aesthetic, and not to mention, disposable income? What are YOUR thoughts on this?
Note: I'm guessing that, since MbMJ has already shown their Fall/Winter 15 collection at NYFW last month, this is likely to take place next year after the FW 15 season.
