#MFW: Gucci Spring/Summer 2015 Runway & Bags Report

Gucci's Spring/Summer 15 RTW was a hodgepodge of military, denim, bohemian, and patchwork silk motifs reminiscent of Japanese kimonos. Apart from the Oriental prints, Frida presented a somewhat unconventional colour palette consisting of brown, khaki, olive, dark forest green, maroon, white, and blue that seemed traditionally more suited to the Fall/Winter season. There also seemed to be less use of exotic skins, and instead, a preference for suede and leather this time around. The designer also took a more simple approach to evening looks with only hints of sparkle trims against the Asian-inspired silk-screen-esque prints.

The bags were a mix of old and new. The Vintage-esque heritage archive-inspired shoulder bag came with Gucci's signature horsebit detail while some new but yet minor variations of the Jackie ruled the runway. Spring/Summer 15 sees the extension of the Jackie family, a carry-over focus from the current Fall/Winter 14-15 season (Jackie Soft). For the upcoming season, the Jackie takes on 2 new forms: a small bucket-like silhouette with the signature piston clasp and a thick canvas sports strap that will be available in leather, exotic croco and suede; and a rectangular shoulder bag which is similar to the Jackie Soft shoulder bag from FW14.

And while I rarely comment on shoes, I am absolutely in love with this stacked-heeled sandal! Now, if only I were better at navigating with heels..
