Louis Vuitton Collaborates With Fashion's Biggest Names for Icon & Iconoclasts Project

Louis Vuitton has collaborated with SIX iconoclasts on a special project in celebration of the iconic monogram (that was created back in 1896 by Georges Vuitton) in conjunction with the Maison's 160th Anniversary.

Vuitton has always shown its support for the Arts, so it's no wonder that this project is a melding of both Fashion and the Arts where world-renowned architect Frank Gehry (whose name most of you might recognise from his collection for Tiffany & Co. who also designed the Guggenheim Museum), the multitalented Cindy Sherman whose CV would read filmmaker/actress/model/photographer/makeup artist/hairstylist/author/cinematographer/wardrobe mistress, industrial designer Marc Newson, joining the likes of THE biggest names in fashion, who need no introduction: Christian Louboutin, Karl Lagerfeld and Rei Kawakubo.

For this special project spearheaded by Executive Vice President of LV Delphine Arnault, and the new Artistic Director of Womenswear, Nicolas Ghesquière, each of the six aforementioned participants have been given carte blanche to create a personally inspired bag and/or a piece of luggage, using the monogram, with Vuitton's brand spirit and DNA in mind.

Delphine Arnault comments that, "... we simply went to those who are among the best in their fields. We were interested in people who work with their minds and their hands. I thought it was so interesting - and fun! - to have all these different points of view on the monogram. It is inspiring to see how they envision things, to see their perspectives. This is a group of geniuses".

Items from this collaborations are exclusive Limited Editions and will be available at select Louis Vuitton boutiques globally from mid-October this year.
