Repetto's Fall/Winter 2014 Bags

We all know Repetto for its shoes, or well, ballet flats to be exact. After all, the brand did start out as pointe shoe makers for ballerinas. And then in more recent years, they began to venture into fashionable footwear, and now Mary Janes, heels, T-straps, Oxfords and even their latest addition, sneakers, have been added to the expanding Repetto family. But I'm sure not many of us knew that they also have a line of handbags (I mean, I, for one, didn't know about their leather goods collection) which is one of their newer endeavours. I mean, I always knew they had dance bags, but only found out rather recently about their range of leather handbags.

Petite Cabriole

While their Summer collection is already available at the newly opened Repetto boutique at Pavilion KL, here's a sneak peek at their upcoming Fall/Winter 2014 collection that will be hitting stores next month (June). The FW14 collection takes its inspiration from the Beijing Opera and by the 1948 film Red Shoes by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. So by now, you'd have already guessed that the colour red (the Maison has named this scarlet hue from the FW14 palette "Dragon") is the focus for FW14, but, I haven't actually picked anything in red. Okay, perhaps I have been a lil biased here, because I really ain't a fan of red (I don't even wear red during Chinese New Year, and I'd opt for pink instead!). So yes, I've picked out 2 of my favourite silhouettes, that incidentally, are in black, haha. I'm sure that's a first for you (it is for me too!) as those of you who've been regular followers/readers of my blog do know that I hardly ever own a black back except for my Valentino Rockstud tote, so it is rather curious as to why I'd feature not one but two black bags today, huh?

Well, I promise you this wasn't at all a conscious decision on my part, but simply because I love both these styles from Repetto's FW14 handbag collection. The "Petite Cabriole" is a weeeeee bit similar to the Hermès Lindy in terms of its silhouette, but dare I say I actually prefer this because the grosgrain bow detail at the side makes it much more feminine and it's much more lightweight than the Lindy. It does come in a more vibrant burnt orange hue, but I picked this because somehow it looks more classy in black. And "Rose" tote above would have been rather plain if it weren't for the acetate chain braided with grosgrain ribbon - the chain strap detail instantly takes it from "blah" to "bam!"
