#NYFW: Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2013

Due rescheduling issues, the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2013 show was, for the first time ever, held at Lincoln Center.

The Verdict: Big, bold, and beautiful - this seemed to be the idea that Marc Jacobs was going for at his Fall/Winter 2013 runway show at New York Fashion Week. Models sashayed down the runway with big hair, and on them, oversized coats, bold prints like chevron-detailed tulips and polka dots that were cut in half and joined in a sort of ying-yang kinda way. Tartan (or plaid as the Americans call it) was also a key theme this season and the pants were cropped and little looser with a wider fit. But I noticed that something was missing - the headgear on the models (whether on some or even all models) which for many seasons now, has been a staple.

As for the bags, boxy and structured silhouettes seem to rule the Marc by Marc Jacobs runway. Hat boxes have been turned into bags (smaller in scale of course) with the addition of double handles, Boston Bags were much stiffer and sturdier and double handle laptop-like bags usually spotted at meetings were given a unisex appeal. But that said, it was a rather "blah" collection for the MbMJ line. Plaid printed bags aside, it seemed too mature for the MbMJ customer. Perhaps the MbMJ girl is growing up, but that's what the MJ main collection is for, isn't it? This line is supposed to be more youthful and fun!
