#LFW: Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer 2013 - The Runway Review

Staged at their usual show venue in Hyde Park, Christopher Bailey is usually quite punctual, with hardly any delays. As the guests took their seats in the show space, it was, compared to last year when I was there, quite dimly lit, with the silhouettes of London's landmarks created by shadows on the wall, exactly the same as this season's invitation. This season, Burberry's greenhouse-like venue, was covered so that the light couldn't shine into the space.

Once the exterior black-out covers hand unravelled, we saw the first model standing there. Music began and she opened the show at 4:10pm GMT (11:10pm MYT). As more looks came down the runway, it was obvious that Bailey's accessory du jour for SS13 was the capelet, which came in variants such as vinyl with python trims, satin, and even varsity-typed ones; while the lengths he seemed to favour, were either just over-the-knee, or super short hot pants. Colourblocking is still in vogue, along with ombré, and what a vibrant colour palette, indeed: green, orange, blue, red, gold (and the metallic versions of those colours too!).

I must say that I saw Lots of day dresses that I'd wear in a heartbeat, but my favourites were still the metallic cocktail dresses. On second thought, though, the over-the-knee look wouldn't work for me because well, I'm, erm, vertically challenged, to say the least.

The show came to a close after about 15 minutes, and Burberry's had some creative final walkthroughs before! When I was there for SS12 last year, it "rained" onto the outside of the glasshouse show space, and models came out with brollys while it rained confetti inside the venue. For the AW 12/13 show, it "rained" snow. This time around, all the models came out in metallic trenchcoats, according to colours. The result? Burberry's Rainbow Metallic Model Army.
