Ferragamo SS12 striped box clutch in Suede, Karung & Nappa

I must commend Ferragamo's designs these days. I remember even up till last year when I thought that while some of their designs were well, okay, most of of their leather goods looked rather, well, like the Classic Ferragamo that was a more mature look. Then came the Spring/Summer 2012 where I practically loved every single item in their collection. It was love at first sight when I saw many of their bags from this season (this clutch included!) and are in fact so uncharacteristic of Ferragamo to the point that, if it weren't for the bows or gancho logo, I wouldn't have thought otherwise.

This season, the brand seems to be targeting a younger market with their vibrant colour-blocked bags, and interesting colour combos. If they keep up this style and design evolution, I will seriously start falling for their leather goods.

When I saw this clutch - and I promise you that the colours are much more vibrant in the flesh - I really couldn't believe it was by Ferragamo. The strategic combination of suede, karung (a type of lizard) and nappa in teal, night blue and cobalt gives the bag that much needed "oomph" and texture, not to mention dimension due to the overlapping of the leathers on its surface.

Alhough it comes with a detachable gold chain shoulder strap, I recommend using it without because it just looks much more polished that way. At GBP 1,665 it could definitely rival Bottega Veneta's Knot Clutch. I mean, we've all seen the Knot in various textures and colours throughout the years, but this Ferragamo clutch is so fresh, that I actually prefer this to the *gasp* Knot!
