Paris Fashion Week: Dior Fall/Winter 2011

Maison Dior's Fall/Winter 2011 show was an emotional one, as this marked the end of Galliano's era at the LVMH-owned label following Galliano's dismissal and subsequent arrest for making anti-Semitic remarks. Fashion editors came dressed in black, a sign of silent mourning for Galliano's last ever collection for Dior. After the finale, the designer didn't take his final bow. In his place, was Dior's atelier at the end of the show.

The Verdict: While for S/S 11, all the bags showcased on the runway were Lady Diors, this Fall/Winter 2011, the Lady Dior was joined by the new Dior classics - the New Lock in exotic skins, and the Granville with a textured cannage pattern. New at Dior for F/W 2011 is a Hobo bag, with a chain strap, which rather reminds me of the gypsy collection from seasons past. Perhaps it is an attempt in hopes of appealing to a younger market as Dior is usually perceived as a label that caters to the "Ladies Who Lunch", tai-tais and Datins set.
