Fendi’s Tribute to Italian Craftsmanship

Maison Fendi has come up with a new book titled The Whispered Directory of Craftsmanship. True to its title, the book is indeed intended to function as a directory, it is structured in alphabetical order. Just like the Prada book launched last year, The Whispered Directory also fuses the fields of art, architecture, design, food, cinema and music along with fashion.

One of the more important alphabets would be “C”, which stands for Cuoio Romano – a precious leather that Fendi utilises for its Selleria Line. “L” is also significant to Fendi, as represented by the Lisio Foundation, which specialises in textile workmanship and brocades on antique looms. These were the very textiles that Silvia Venturini Fendi had discovered and utilised to recreate the now iconic Baguette bag, amongst other Fendi icons.
