Fashion Week (Paris): Chloe F/W 2010

The Verdict: When it comes to Chloe's F/W 2010 collection, it seems as if creative director, Hannah McGibbon has taken a back-to-basics approach with this collection. McGibbon seems to have tossed out one of Chloe's signature looks out the window, i.e. chunky hardware - an element clearly demanded attention, made a statement, and put Chloe on the map amongst other fashion A-list designers. This season, nothing really seems innovative: the shapes are the ever-so-common Boston Bag as well as a drawstring sling bag that resembles Vuitton's "Noe". Perhaps the more youthful market that Chloe has been catering to wouldn't be too happy with this collection, as it seems to be geared towards a more mature market now. Even the colour palette (in shades of brown, mustard, beige, and caramel) that seem to make up this entire collection seems to echo this shift from youthful to mature. I, for one, want the old design philosophy back! With Phoebe Philo (who had designed the Paddington) as creative director of Celine, will we see Chloe slide back and Celine rising to the fashion forefront?
