Fendi’s Limited Edition Bags for 2009

In conjunction with the opening of Fendi’s newest Asian Flagship store at Plaza 66 in Shanghai, the brand has launched a collection of Limited Edition bags to commemorate this momentous occasion. Shown below are the Limited Edition baguettes and their latest iconic Peekaboo bag.

First up, the 3 Limited Edition baguettes: The one pictured on the left with the oversized red tassels depict a bird scene that is typical of Oriental Art, especially those commonly found in Chinese paintings and silk screens. According to the Shanghai Daily, these 3 baguettes are produced by the Florence-based Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio (Lisio Foundation), utilising traditional hand-weaving techniques that date back to the Renaissance period.

Next up, Fendi’s latest “IT” bag, the Peekaboo, aptly named the “Shanghai 2009” Peekaboo. This is as Limited as a Limited Edition bag can get: only 20 pieces were made, and it’s only available at the Shanghainese Plaza 66 Flagship. Made of goat leather, the interior boasts a fully hand-beaded Zucca monogram (aka Fendi’s signature FF logo) – see detail shot below. It also comes with a golden plaque with “Shanghai 2009, Limited Edition and the Serial number no.x/20”. The Shanghai 2009 Peekaboo retails for RMB 29,800.
