Louis Vuitton's "Chic On the Bridge" FULL Ad Campaign

The iconic Alma bag is front and centre in Louis Vuitton's latest Ad campaign starring models Karlie Kloss, Daria Strokous, Jac Jagaciak, Iris Strubegger and Fan Bing Bing. Entitled "Chic on the Bridge", and shot by Steven Klein, the campaign chronicles the lives of 4 glamorous friends and their journeys to 3 of the world's fashion capitals: Paris, New York and Shanghai.

The girls meet at landmark bridges during their travels beginning in Paris on the Pont do Carrousel with the Louvre in the background with French blue Epi leather Almas in tow, and then on to New York's Brooklyn Bridge with Yellow Epi Almas, as a tribute to the Yellow Taxis in America, and then Shanghai's Waibaidu Bridge (keep your eyes peeled for Fan Bing Bing!) in glossy red Monogram Vernis, that is not only reminiscent of Chinese lacquer but also a culturally auspicious colour.

After Shanghai, the girls meet back in Paris on the very same Pont do Carrousel bridge at night, with Alma bags in bright rainbow hues that just pops against their LBDs and Paris's skyline at night.

Stay tuned for Part Deux in which traces the evolution of the Alma bag with photos from the Vuitton archives! ;D

Watch Karl Lagerfeld's Latest Chanel Film "Once Upon a Time" Starring Keira Knightley!

Fashion Editors from the world over have flocked to Singapore for a Chanel extravaganza which kicked off at the Raffles Hotel on May 8th with 100 Years of Chanel, which included the world premiere of Once Upon a Time, the latest film by Karl Lagerfeld.

Set in the French town of Deauville in 1913, Kiera Knightley stars as Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel who, at that point in her career, was operating a millinery shop. The fashionable ladies become her customers, and it is from them that she gets her design ideas. She's often seen asking her clientele if the jacket is "made from men's underwear fabric". It was upon seeing Lady Jane Grey, who was wearing her husband's tweed jacket, that Coco realised, "tweed jackets are very chic on a woman".

Now watch the full-length short film (15 mins) below! Enjoy!!

Newsflash: Dior To Release a Second Secret Garden Film!

After last year's success with the first Secret Garden: Versailles film, Dior is set to release another, entitled Secret Garden 2: Versailles. Models Daria Strokous, Melissa Stasiuk and Xiao Wen Ju reprise their role once again in this second instalment of the fashion short under the direction of fashion photography duo Inez van Lamesweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, but this time, shot on location in a forest near a small chateau, The Petit Tranon.

While the first film was more opulent, the second, judging from the photography stills of the film, is more romantic, yet also surreal and mystical, and sort of reminds me of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

This Secret Garden film is set to be released in June on Dior's Official Website as well as on DiorMag

Balenciaga's Papier Zip-Around Tote

I was at KLCC recently, and being the total Balenciaga fangirl that I am, I stepped into the store because I wanted to check out the new variation of the classic Papier range of bags - the Papier Zip-Around.

Personally, I am drawn to bags with flared sides (which some have nicknamed 'wings') especially of the tote variety because it's so versatile and almost like having 2 bags (and looks) for the price of 1! While I was more interested in looking at the A4 size, they only had the A5 in store, in "Vert", a gorgeous hue Green that's somewhere between bright emerald and forest green on the spectrum. Super limited quantities available so go grab it while you can because the side zippers sure add an edgier vibe, in comparison to the others from the "Papier" range. Love! And apparently it's only going to be available for the current Spring/Summer 2013 season before Alexander Wang's debut collection comes in.

Cartier's New Envelope Bag!

Cartier has debuted a new bag, and yes, you heard right! While it's true that the renowned French brand is known for its luxury timepieces and fine jewellery, it does have a few classic bags to its name too!

Very simply called the Envelope bag, it's intended to resemble a letter from Cartier, "a bag intended to deliver at any moment".

Thanks to the adjustable strap, this Envelope is certainly versatile: it can be worn either in on the Shoulder, slung in your arm, or even as a clutch or hand-carry bag.

Made of goatskin, it's available 3 colours: Red with gilded metal fittings, the Limited-Edition Mahogany with palladium-coated metal fittings, and Black with palladium-coated metal fittings. Available for RM 5,150 at Cartier KLCC.

Newsflash: Alexander Wang's Debut Ad Campaign for Balenciaga Fall 2013!

The Fall 2013 collection is Alexander Wang's debut season for Balenciaga, and he's certainly keeping us in suspense! The season's ad campaign has landed, but without a visible head or face to the model, except the fact that it was the opening look at the Fall 2013 Runway show at Paris Fashion Week.

All we know about this is that the campaign is shot by Steven Klien and stars model Kristen McMenamy.

Newsflash: Christian Lacroix To Design Couture Line for Schiaparelli

Christian Lacroix is one of the designers who have been asked to design a Couture Collection for Schiaparelli, a designer known to have started the trend of collaborating with artists, most notably, Salvador Dali.

Lacroix's Couture line will be unveiled at the original location of Schiaparelli's workshop, at 21 Place Vendôme this July during the Couture shows in Paris. The designer is said to be reinterpreting 15 of Schiaparelli's most popular creations - and I'm personally awaiting to see what he does with the famous "Lobster" dress.

A series of contributions from different artists (yes, artists and not designers) will also take place at the Maison after the unveiling of the Lacroix collaboration.

The Saint Laurent Music Project Featuring Daft Punk

Saint Laurent unveiled their latest instalment of The Saint Laurent Music Project last week on Instagram, and this time around, it features Daft Punk dressed in Stage Wear by Hedi Slimane for Saint Laurent.

In true Slimane fashion, the ads are in black-and-white, but this time around, the starkness of the contrast gives the campaign a more futuristic vibe. Shot in Los Angeles, Daft Punk members Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter  are dressed in a black glitter jacket that is characteristic of the "Le Smoking" aesthetic created by founder, Yves Saint Laurent  when he was still designing for the House.

Fun fact: Daft Punk was the first choice for the soundtrack to Slimane's first show for Saint Laurent in October 2012.

And now, here's the video:

3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Satchel

I'm a total Pashli satchel fan, and everytime I wanted to get one, I found the mini version too tiny, and the Pashli a little too oversized. And guess what? There's finally a Medium size available which is just right, and this season it's in one of my favourite colours - Coral! And the fact that a shoulder strap has been added to not just the new Medium size, but also the regular-sized Pashli makes it so much more convenient, especially when you need your hands free for, oh, I don't know.. shopping? ;D US$825 via Shopbop

Note: if you're not a fan of Coral, it's also available in Electric Yellow this season.

Gucci's New Handbags For Pre-Fall

Gucci introduces 2 new handbags for Pre-Fall: The Lady Buckle and The Bamboo Shopper

So Gucci has been on a roll with all the Lady-esque bags these few season. Remember the Lady Stirrup? And now, for Pre-Fall, the Lady Buckle, with, of course, its namesake, the buckle as the centrepiece. Resembling a square belt buckle, it's available in leather, exotic crocodile and jaguar-printed pony skin. Perfect for the stylish careerwoman, the Lady Buckle can also be paired with the wallet which comes in 2 sizes (as above). No word on price just yet.

The second addition to the Pre-Fall collection is the Bamboo Shopper, which I really love. The iconic bamboo handle gets added to this new shopper which is simple and yet chic, and well, more my kinda style, really. The Bamboo shopper is also available in python, jaguar-printed pony skin or leather in colours such as Black, Jade, Brick Red and Light Blue - the season's colour palette. This bag will land in stores at the end of this month so look out for it. Retail price: RM 8,060 (Large) and RM7,220 (Medium)

Both the Lady Buckle and the Bamboo Shopper will be available online on Gucci.com in May.

Newsflash: Grab the last of these YSL goodies at Pavilion!

I was at Pavilion recently, and although the YSL store hadn't been renovated to look like the other newly revamped stores overseas after Hedi Slimane had taken over as Creative Director, I noticed that even though the YSL logo was still on both the right and left pillars of the facade, the store is now called Saint Laurent Paris - the very words I dreaded to see.

And because I'm quite a YSL fan myself, I decided to pop into the store to see what items I'd be able to grab before they cease to exist. I was delighted that several designs (and yes I'm talking mostly about the bags) from Stefano Pilati's time at the brand were still on the shelves, although most of the bags had been replaced with Slimane's minimalistic ones.

Here are the items that are left:

The Belle de Jour clutch is perhaps the only item with the full YSL logo. Several pieces in Fuchsia, Black, Orange, and Metallic Silver (in crackled patent leather) and Fuchsia in glossy patent leather are still available in store (but only in the large size). The SA tells me although this has been discontinued, new clutches with the logo will be available next season (ha! I'll believe it when I actually see it! pftt) but with a different price point - approximately RM5,000 - 6,000 for each clutch!

Yet another of YSL's highly coveted items, which I myself, am a fan of, so I'm super disappointed that the Arty has been discontinued. However, there still are several pieces left in full silver (without stone - shown above), full gold (without stone) coral, and a few other colours. Sizes are limited so please snap em up before they're all gone!

Well, the Chyc clutch will NOT be discontinued (at least something from the 'old' YSL is still retained, eh?) but what I did notice was that the hot stamping inside the clutch now says "Saint Laurent Paris", which isn't too bad. The mini Cabas Chyc, however, will cease to exist after this season.

So, will YOU be getting anything for keeps? If so, which ones?

Bottega Veneta x Nancy Lorenz: The "Skies and Beyond" Project

Bottega Veneta has collaborated with artist Nancy Lorenz for their third collection in a series of lacquered boxes. Following the success of "Botanical" (2002) and "Lunar Landscapes" (2003) collections, this third instalment is a set of 25 leather and suede boxes bears the Lorenz's artwork under the theme "Skies and Beyond".

The artist, Nancy Lorenz

Launched on April 9th, at the Via Montenapoleone boutique, these boxes are true collectors' pieces! Each of the 25 boxes are all signed and numbered, and throughout the year, will be displayed at select Bottega Veneta boutiques worldwide - sort of like a roadshow, if you will. Made of wood sheathed in crafted leather or suede, each lid featuring the artist's pieces are worked on layer by layer, with precious metals such as silver, white gold, blackened silver, palladium, caplain, and moon gold leaf. A precious box for all your little treasures indeed!

“I’ve always followed Nancy Lorenz’s work and felt the time was right for us to introduce this long awaited third collection,” says Creative Director Tomas Maier, “I appreciate her refined technique, textural work and overall artistic sensibility, and am delighted to work with her again on this unique project.”

Event Post: Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2013 Women's Press Presentation

Every season, well, for the Asia-Pacific region at least, Louis Vuitton selects a different Asian city for their press presentation to be held. This time around, for the Women's Pre-Fall 2013 collection was held in KL, on Wednesday 27th March 2013 at Menara Worldwide.

Apart from the models posing with the Pre-Fall collection, the venue was also set up in the form of a mini-exhibit, divided into several rooms that paid tribute to the foundations upon which the brand was built -Luggage and Travel. There were 4 rooms in total: the Icon, Noe, Travel and of course, the Pre-Fall Ready-to-Wear (shown above).

First up, the Noe room. One of the Vuitton classics, the Noe has been around for decades. The one that I probably remember the most is the tri-colour Epi one from the 1990s which was reintroduced last year.

The Icon Room:

And finally, the Travel Room:

My favourites of the season were most certainly the new Sobe clutch and the eye-popping candy coloured Epi Luggage trolleys! I'd take one in every colour please!!

Thanks to Louis Vuitton for the invitation!
