Dior Addict Collection

The mere mention of Dior Addict would probably have you thinking along the lines of the perfume or the lipstick. But nope, that's not what today's blogpost is about. Instead, Dior has just launched a bag collection under the same name. Yep, so in addition to the makeup you now have the luxury handbags collection.

A true classic timeless beauty, the open-top Dior Addict bags come with a detachable envelope pouch on the inside, which, when detached, can be used as a purse/clutch. The bag oozes sophistication with its sleek lines, and the surprise factor? Its side profile which is a buttoned down fold which is reminiscent of the cuff Monsieur Dior's Arizona coat from 1948.

Vertical Dior Addict

Vertical bi-colour leather RM 10,300

Gahhhh loving this colour!

The collection is available in 3 sizes: the Mini (RM 8,500), Small (RM 9,600) and Medium (RM 11,300), and also in the Vertical style (RM 10,300). The Dior Addict collection also sports the signature D-I-O-R charms in either coppery orange, light or bright pink. Please note, however that all prices above are for the bi-colour leather versions. Prices with exotic skin details are available upon request.

Sophie Hulme Spring/Summer 2014

I have, for a long time, not been a fan of any monograms nor logos, rather preferring to opt for understated chic. But then there are people who are of the opinion that "hey, if I spent so much money on something, they better be recognisable". My response to that is always: "Well, why does it matter even if you DID spend a significant sum of your savings on it? You're carrying it for yourself, and not for everyone else. Besides, people who are "in the know" would know them anyway ;D"

With that, I present you British designer Sophie Hulme's Spring/Summer 2014 collection. The designer started her namesake label back in 2008, and although her designs are totally devoid of any logos, the signature gold plate-like hardware makes her bags instantly recognisable. Oh and they're also definitely more on the budget-friendly end of the spectrum so you don't have to worry about breaking the bank with her designs.

Mini Soft Flap Bag SGD 920

Mini Zip-Top Bowling Bag SGD 1,450

I usually am a sucker for all things pink, but somehow not this time around. I'd opt for the striped zip-top bowling bag hands-down! :D All items are available for purchase via Singapore-based multilabel e-tailer Doorstep Luxury, and shipping to Malaysia is FREE!

The New Le Monde d'Hermès App

The Hermès publication, which usually fuses the worlds of fashion, art, and architecture by collaborating with artists, writers and photographers for the past 30 years, the bi-annual magazine Le Monde d'Hermès has just launched an app to celebrate Metamorphosis, a Hermès Story, which is the theme for 2014. I love the hardcopy editions (and have been keeping and archiving them for awhile now because they are just so inspirational), but the digital editions come with various surprises. The debut digital issue, just like the published copy, allows you to use your imagination to create your own origami inspirations that you can share via your social networks. What's more, the app is also complete with a tracking device, so wherever you are in the world, just launch the app, and it will lead you to your nearest Hermès boutique.

Now here's a teaser video of how it works:

Download it onto your iPhones and iPads here and click here for Android version.

Gucci's New Diamante Collection

Gucci launches the new "Diamante" collection as part of their Pre-Fall collection. Consisting of both handbags and luggage for men and women, the "Diamante" is pretty self-explanatory - instead of the GG or Guccisima monogram, the bags sport a diamond-motif which is embossed onto the leather of the bags from this collection .

The "Bright Diamante" is a collection of women's handbags comprising of the bucket-shaped shoulder bag with drawstring, a clutch, a tote, bowler, and the iconic Boston bag, complete with mini versions too. And why's it called Bright Diamante? Why, that's because of the glossy textured leather, of course, that comes in a myriad of colours from muted hues like black, great white, classic marine, and grey, to vibrant shades like bumblebee yellow, deep cobalt, red, and blossom pink. Oh, and I should mention that the bags from this collection are hardware-free! Yep, no hardware at all (the only hardware is on the bucket bag with the buckle on the strap and the gromets for the holes which the leather drawstring detail is threaded through)! Quite novel indeed don't you think, cos I certainly can't remember the last time I saw a bag devoid of any hardware. The plus point to this? Super lightweight and easy to travel with.

Drawstring Bucket Bag- 2 sizes: RM 4,910 (small) and RM 5,740 (large)

Tote, RM 8,070

Clutch RM 4,180

For both men and women, the "Diamante Lux Luggage" sees Gucci's carry-on luggage along with new duffels and totes in various sizes, the briefcase, shoulder bag and messenger bag with the Diamante motif on calfskin.

RM 6,190

The Diamante collections are already available in-stores at Gucci Pavilion, KLCC and The Gardens Mall.

Fashion Film: "Dior and I"

Scene from "Dior and I": Raf Simons looks at a vintage Dior dress

Dior's latest film Dior and I, directed by Frédéric Tcheng (his solo directorial debut) premiered at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival in France yesterday. This feature-length documentary (89 minutes) goes behind the scenes of what went into Raf Simon's first ever haute couture collection 8 weeks before (this was all he had to produce the collection) he showcased it for Dior in Spring 2012.
Director Frédéric Tcheng who also co- produced and edited Valentino: The Last Emperor,  and the co-director of Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel
Credits: Jean-Jacques Poucel

Consider this your all-access pass into the Dior atelier, and watch as Raf Simons delves into the Dior archives for inspiration, and explores the 18th century technique of weaving while fighting the spectre of Monsieur Dior himself, and finding his own voice while negotiating the assertion of his identity through his first ever collection for the Maison.

Chanel's Graffiti Mini Flap Bag

Those of you who follow me on Instagram would recognise this photo from last week. Yep, last Friday, I paid Chanel a visit and couldn't take my eyes off this mini flap bag from the Spring/Summer 14 runway collection. And no, don't let your eyes betray you because it isn't canvas, but calf leather! That's right. Tis the season of all things graffiti and artsy fartsy at Chanel and I really really REALLY am lusting over this right now. MAJOR love, and the stuff fantasies are made of. Mummy dearest didn't approve though because she says it looks like a child scrawled all over it with crayons, *pfft and sobs*, so I came home with another mini Chanel bag instead.

This graffiti mini flap retails for RM10,000+. If mini is too small, it's available in a larger size, but this is WAAAAYYYY cuter. Someone please buy this and tag me (@bagaddictsanon) on Twitter and/or Instagram so that I can live vicariously through you!

Newsflash: Alexander Wang Collaborates with H&M!

In his

For first Instagram post, Alexander Wang broke the news of his latest collaboration yesterday, and it's with none other than Swedish fast fashion giant, H&M!

I, for one, couldn't have been more stoked with this announcement because apart from Nicolas Ghesquiere, Wang is another of my favourite designers! So far, there are no soundbites from either Wang or H&M as yet, but do stay tuned for updates!

And please note that the collaboration will land at H&M stores globally and online, on November 6th (not 11th June as the Americans state the Month before the date!)

Who's excited?
